Sales Director

Galleri Nicolai Wallner

Galleri Nicolai Wallner is seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Director to lead our sales strategy and cultivate long-term relationships with collectors, institutions, and international partners. The position is full time, based in Copenhagen with expectation to travel for fairs.

About the gallery:

Galleri Nicolai Wallner opened in the fall of 1993 with the ambition of exhibiting challenging and innovative contemporary art. The inauguration of the gallery not only captured the spirit of that particular time, but set the pace and agenda for what we continue to do today. After over 30 years of consistent growth, Galleri Nicolai Wallner is highly regarded as one of Denmark’s foremost commercial galleries around the world.

The current program is comprised of both Scandinavian and international artists. Working with varying techniques, media and practices, they are defined as a group not by a shared aesthetic, but rather by a common wish to express ideas, to tell a story, and to make an impression in an otherwise fluctuating world.

The gallery was founded on the ideals of representing an artist from their early, unestablished days, throughout their career. It is with this in mind that we have built our program and have incorporated new artists. On the other hand, our representation of more seminal, established artists has provided us a way of contextualising the gallery’s vision, and has also allowed us to introduce the Danish art scene to some of the most important living artists.

At Galleri Nicolai Wallner, we celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and respected. We welcome applicants of all races, ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, physical abilities, and backgrounds to join for this role.

We believe that different perspectives enrich our work and help us connect with a wider community. While we are a small team, we are open to discussing and providing reasonable accommodations to ensure you can thrive in your role during your time here.

Responsibilities

Responsible for selling and placing works of high value to both institutions and private collectors.

Coordination and oversight of select international and Danish art fair participation.

Working closely with the gallery’s directors and artists, you will play a key role in expanding our local and global network, driving sales, and strengthening the gallery’s position in the nordic and international contemporary art market.

Requirements

Minimum 7 years’ experience in a senior sales role within a gallery, auction house, or comparable art-market environment.

A well-established and active network of private collectors, institutions, advisors, and art professionals.

Proven success in sales, business development, and client relationship management.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

A strategic, proactive, and results-oriented mindset with the ability to work independently, as well at a teamplayer.
