Dolby Chadwick Gallery

The Dolby Chadwick Gallery in San Francisco seeks a highly motivated and detail-oriented Registrar to join our team. This position is full-time, in person, Tuesday–Saturday with occasional evening commitments.

Start Date: Immediately

Availability: Tuesday–Friday (9–6), Saturday (11–5)

The ideal candidate must possess the following:

  • At least two years gallery experience with excellent references

  • Registration and collections management experience highly preferred

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Art History, Museum Studies, or related field

  • Extensive computers skills (Mac platform, Adobe Creative Suite)

  • Professional demeanor

  • Highly detail oriented

  • Positive, upbeat attitude

Responsibilities

Principal responsibilities:

  • Managing and tracking entire gallery artwork inventory (using ArtCloud database)

  • Providing consignment paperwork for all incoming artworks

  • Tracking loan agreements and artwork-related contracts

  • Performing condition reports for all incoming and outgoing artworks

  • Helping to provide on-site supervision and care of all works of art

  • Working with Preparator to pack artwork for shipping and off-site deliveries

  • Maintaining storage areas & secure off-site professional art storage facilities when needed

  • Working with Preparator to install and de-install for monthly exhibitions

  • Scheduling transportation of artworks with professional art handlers, coordinating with artists and clients

  • Coordinating with framers and other gallery contractors to meet necessary deadlines

Minimum qualifications and skills:

  • Outstanding organizational skills

  • Extreme attention to detail

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

  • Exceptional interpersonal skills

  • Knowledge of art handling, international and domestic shipping, and storage techniques

  • Ability to prioritize and effectively manage multiple tasks and deadlines

  • Knowledge of and passion for fine art

  • Team player, ability to work with a small team - “can do” spirit

  • Self-starter with ability to work effectively with minimal supervision and meet deadlines

  • Valid driver’s license
