The Communications & Press Director is a senior strategic role responsible for the gallery’s public voice, communications and press strategy, and digital visibility across Mexico, the US, and international contexts.

Working closely with the founders, CEO, and senior leadership, the individual in this role leads strategy across press, editorial, digital, and public-facing communications, ensuring that the gallery’s voice is coherent, distinctive, and aligned across channels. Reporting to the founders and CEO, the Communications & Press Director oversees the Digital Content team and manages the New York-based Press Assistant, in coordination with the Senior Director in New York.

The ideal candidate will be a senior communications professional with a minimum of seven years’ experience in the art world, ideally within a gallery, museum, arts institution, art publication, or specialized communications context. They should combine strategic thinking with hands-on communications experience, with the ability to develop long-lead communications strategies, guide tone and messaging across channels, and work confidently with press and cultural media.

The role is based in Mexico City, with regular travel to New York. The candidate should be bilingual in English and Spanish. An existing US or international art press network is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities
  • Develop the gallery’s overall communications strategy, public voice, and long-term narrative across Mexico, the US, and international contexts.

  • Translate the gallery’s program, history, vision, values, and artists’ work into coherent public positioning, in close coordination with the founders, CEO, and senior leadership.

  • Lead press strategy across Mexico and the US, building on the gallery’s existing Mexico press relationships and strengthening media outreach in New York.

  • Develop long-lead editorial opportunities around artists, exhibitions, the gallery’s program, and broader institutional narratives, in close collaboration with the Artist Liaisons and the Research & Curatorial team.

  • Identify, shape, and oversee selected press opportunities and communications materials, including press releases, interview language, quotes, and key messaging.

  • Apply strong editorial judgment across press, messaging, and digital content, ensuring consistency with the gallery’s voice and positioning.

  • Set the strategic and editorial framework for digital content across website, newsletter, social media, video, and other formats.

  • Strengthen the gallery’s public information ecosystem by ensuring that the gallery’s website, artist pages, biographies, press materials, external profiles, and search visibility are accurate, coherent, and discoverable.

  • Establish clear workflows, planning rhythms, and cross-departmental communication across Mexico City and New York.

Requirements
  • Minimum of seven years’ experience in communications within the art world

  • Experience within a gallery, museum, arts institution, art publication, or specialized communications context preferred

  • Proven experience shaping public narratives across press, editorial, and digital contexts

  • Excellent writing and editing skills

  • Strong editorial judgment

  • Deep understanding of contemporary art

  • Confident working with press and cultural media

  • Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • Based in Mexico City, with regular travel to New York

  • Existing US or international art press network strongly preferred

  • BA required, preferably in art history, communications, humanities, or a related field

  • MA preferred
